1962 Westfalia Bremen trailer

Right to start off I thought I’d post a few pictures of the 1962 Westfalia Bremen 1 trailer I’m restoring to be towed behind our 67′ SO42 as part of our show transport for next year. This was originally used as a siren trailer for use in the cold war to warn of possible catastrophes under nuclear threat.

Collected from Nr Gent, Belgium on an 800ml round trip.

Hardly no rust as this trailer must have spent its life in military storage during the cold war

First job was the big strip down back home and removal of the switch gear holes.

The old siren control holes removed and plate MAG welded in plate. Tacked in position and pulse welded to minimise distortion

section cut out and new metal replaced. Slight distortion in the metal so carbon wand hot shrunken in preparation for a skim of stopper (no more than 2mm)

That was about it for the welding apart from welding up unwanted holes. Then she’s in the trailer ready for media blasting.

    • Hello Aureliu, Thanks for taking the time to check out the blog. The Bremen is not for sale. When its finished its going to be pulled behind my SO42. It might be worth thesamba.com as they do sometime pop up on there.
